The Young Man From Riyadh
Salam. Good day!
Cerita ini diterima dari sahabat saya dan dipetik dari blog seorang sahabat dari Saudi...
The Young Man From Riyadh
I would like to share a true story that happened several months ago, and it was big news at the time this event happened.
There was a young man who lived with his parents in a downtown district of Riyadh. His family was not rich and he could not afford to get married early. He finished school with low grades and chose to become a private taxi driver instead.
He loved and respected his parents and would try to fulfill anything that he was asked to do, except one thing…. He did not want to pray. Everyday his parents would nag and scold him for not doing the Salah as what every Muslim is obliged to do. His mother was very worried and always prayed for his beloved son to do his Salah.
One day, a Mutawwa (pious man) asked this young man to bring him to Makkah. After negotiating the fare, this young man finally agreed and embarked on the trip that took 10hours. Arriving in Makkah, the Mutawwa paid him the fare and asked him to come and pray in Masjidil Haram. The young man refused.
“Ya Shabab (young man)!” the Mutawwa said. “You have driven all the way here and you do not want to take the golden chance to pray in Al-Haram? Not everyone is given by Allah the opportunity to come to Baitullah (House of Allah) and you are wasting it just like that?”
After much persuasion, the young man finally relented. He was in deep thought and said “Right….I have done too much bad things and I never prayed. Let me pray now and hopefully Allah will accept my Salah”.
And of all things that went, this young man died in his Sujood…..inside Masjidil Haram. The news of his remarkable death spread quickly throughout Saudi Arabia and arrived to his parents, and they were in disbelief yet grateful to Allah the Almighty!
Everyone, including his parents was wondering what deeds that he do to be given such privilege by Allah, although they had never seen him doing his Salah!
Finally, one man from a nearby area came and told them the story of this young man. “I have a neighbor who is an old widow and very poor. After her husband died, she was left alone to fend for herself. But because of her age and health, she could not do any work and she does not have any children.”
“Your son”, he continued “would come there every day without fail to bring her some food. I saw him buy some food from the restaurant, left the package in front of her door, knocked the door and immediately left”. “He did this for years, until his death”.
“The old lady never get the chance to see him by the face, but I overheard her…everytime she picked up the food….praying to Allah to Give this man Husnool Khatimah (Good Ending)!”
And indeed…it was the best ending any Muslim could have dreamt of!
InsyaAllah.
